Memoirs
Memoirs
One luminous afternoon in 2011 my cousin and I were at my house, we were sitting on the couch in the livingroom. We were so bored, so we were looking for something to do, I walked outside around the backyard looking to see if there were any basketballs or rugby balls to kick or throw around, but they were all flat or on top of a roof. My cousin couldn’t find anything to do, so we grabbed my sister’s fake camera and went to the beach.
As I put on my shoes, I was thinking of what to do at the beach, then I came up with the perfect idea to see how far can I throw the camera into the sea! We started walking over to Blaketown School, walking through the field over to the tree’s. We walked to the gate and started running towards the beach. As soon as we got there we were doing flips and jumping off the hills, then I took my shoes off. I started walking down to the sand, then I threw it. It didn’t go as far as I wanted it tom but atleast I can’t see it.
I yelled out to my cousin to get me my shoes but he was jumping off the tall sandhills. So I walked to get them. As I was almost there I stood on what to be this seaweed stuff, I didn’t know exactly what it was but it cut the bottom of my foot. I was screaming in pain, I saw blood pouring out. I started to cry, my cousin saw and he told me to stay there as he ran back to my house to get my mum.
I knew I couldn’t stay here, so as I tried to walk as fast as I could to my shoes and get back to my house. When I got there my mum took my to the hose out the back and sprayed it for about 5 minutes, before that there was a lot of blood behind me but as soon as I could, I wanted to get the blood away. Hours later I was laying on the couch with my foot covered up with this bandage stuff. Whenever I tried to walk it felt like a nail going into the bottom of my foot, so for 2 days I was laying on the couch watching tv.
The next day I went to the hospital to see what was in my foot, as soon as I walked into the room I saw needles on the shelf. After a little bit of talking about what happened, it was time for the stuff to come out, so she grabbed these needle/tweezer things and started. As soon as I felt a poke, I screamed the hospital down. After it was all over, I was glad, the stuff the lady pulled out was this seaweed stuff.
When I went home I was so relieved, I could walk without it feeling like a nail going into my foot. After a few hours of staying home I went back to the beach and this time didn’t take off my shoes, so I wouldn’t get hurt anymore. Then after an hour or less I went back to my house without a bleeding foot.
From that experience I know not to take off my shoes when I throw a fake camera into the Ocean, and to make sure I can avoid any sharp objects like nails or screws on the ground or in garages.

I'm lucky to be a New Zealander Because
Everyone is nice, the people in shops help you out, when you ask a person on the side of the road they will help you, and people donate to the Salvation Army’s so that people can buy clothes for cheap instead of having clothes made out of toilet paper or leaves. Also people get free food or drink and people can go down to the river and get fresh water without getting sick.
The population here isn’t as bad as other countries, because we don’t have to wear a mask (for pollution) while walking down the streets or traveling somewhere in a car. There aren’t as many dangerous animals in New Zealand such as bears, snakes and Lions, although there are lions at the zoo’s, they are kept in safe grounds where they cannot attack people who visit.
Also In New Zealand the risks of a terrorist attack are really low, so people are in a safe country, Although there are some here, everyone is in a country. So there aren’t as many deaths in New Zealand then there are in different countries around the world where the population is higher. So New Zealand is one of the best countries to live in!
New Zealand is one of the many countries that have milk in schools. Some people don’t get to drink fresh milk, but Fonterra supplies milk for schools for free. A few times a year trucks drop of a lot of boxes with cartons of milk, it depends on how many children in the school, it lasts more than a few months.
Many people from around the world come to New Zealand, they either come to live, or come on holiday and visit many of the beautiful places that New Zealand has, such as the Sky Tower, Milford sounds and many more. There any many people at Punakaiki, there's many things to do in Punakaiki, visit the Pancake rocks, cafes and pub food. It’s amazing to see how many come across to New Zealand, seeing people from many different countries around the world such as Russia, Asia and China.

Midnight Price
Midnight Price
Jimmy was walking outside, he looked around, there was no one to be seen. That was strange for him, because there’s normally a ton of people outside, but today was a ghost town. He walked down the street to the dairy, and still, no one to be seen. He arrived at the diary and it was closed, he thought to himself, “Why is there no one around”? He looked across the street at the other little shops, but they were all closed.
He walked back to his house, he couldn’t remember if his parents were home. He arrived at the door and walked in. Slowly walking around the rooms but no one was there, he was scared. He ran to the phone and dialed 619. But, no one at the police station answered, now he was shocked. He got his bag, put everything he loved in there, and left. Walking down the streets for hours. No one to be seen, nothing to be seen, just land and a fence. He jumped over the fence into the land, only grass, and he headed towards to mountain.
Once he got to the mountain, there was a blur, he thought he saw a portal. He thought he was going insane. But he rubbed his eyes, and it was still there, so he walked to it. He was right in front of it, so, he had no choice but to end this. He walked in, the world turned pink, but he wasn’t scared because he wanted to get out of that ghost town life. When he arrived on the other side of the portal, it was dark. There were 2 lights, a mysterious kingdom and a house. He walked down the scary footpath to the house, and he knew, he was getting into trouble.
He opened the door, nothing to be seen inside except one lamp, and a bed. He checked around more to see if it was safe, if the bed was alright. Just so it could turn day, he slept in the bed for the night. “Why am I here”, “Where is everyone”, “Am I alive”, he started to sleep talk. The lamp turned off by itself, he woke up straight away, “Who turned off the light?” He said. He thought that there were ghosts, or spirits. Now he thought to himself that it wasn’t a good idea to come here after all. He walked outside and started to walk to the dungeon thing. Up the rocks, heading to the large door, he thought this is the end, but it looks like it’s not.
The large door opened, he walked inside. There were paintings, draws and a small chest. He walked slowly up to the chest, a dusty old chest, he opens it slowly and he couldn't believe his eyes. There was a $100 bill with a piece of paper with some words on it. The words said, “You have found me, but there are many more…”. He stared a the $100 bill for a bit, wondering if he was still asleep, but he wasn’t. He walked around, shivering, looking around for more chests. He turned the corner and saw some stairs, he slowly walked up there, waiting for someone to pop out and scare him, or the stairs to brake. He got to the top, an empty room, but one chest at the back. Above the chest was a open window with a hole through it, like someone shot a bullet through there. He opened the chest and there was a booklet in there, with words saying on the cover, “Go back”. He thought about his brother, his friends and his parents. He had a tear in his eye when he remembered that his bunny wasn’t there.
He threw the booklet across the room, knocking a vase over. He was scared, happy and shocked, he ran down the stairs to outside just hoping this was all a dream. He grabbed a big stone off the ground and was hitting his head softly with it, then he threw it and his foot, but nothing happened except pain going straight through him. He ran back to the house, and ran out that door heading back towards where he came from. There was no portal, except a mountain, so he ran for the mountain and walked up it. He got to the top, there was no portal, he laid on the ground, wishing it was there, then he got knocked out by a stone. There was no one around that could of threw the stone, no animals around. He woke up, and the portal was there, maybe the portal is the one who threw the stone. He jumped up in surprise, he ran to the portal and closed his eyes.
Finally, he got back home,. He ran down the mountain and ran back to his house. He stopped in the driveway, hearing if anyone was inside, but it was silent. He opened the door, everyone was in the lounge watching tv, he ran to the couch and did a flip on the blankets. Everyone was still normal, but they didn't ask where he was. Jimmy laid on the couch, just thinking about what he went through, then he had a vision of the $100 Bill. It wasn’t in his hand, wasn’t in his pockets, but maybe, it was the price to get back home.
Learning Intentions ; to write a recount with the correct format. I think I have succeeded with this.
